Profile
My research focuses on how nutritional, management and genetic factors may affect the risk of production diseases and how production diseases may affect feed intake and production. The main focus is on underlying regulatory mechanisms involved in the etiology of production diseases, including changes in and regulation of metabolism, nutrient partitioning, appetite as well as the immune defence and relationship between physiological status and the immune system and the risk of production diseases. Further, the research aims to describe biological indicators in milk, blood, and urine that may be potential markers for subclinical disease, physiological imbalance, and suboptimal performance, and can be applied in health and production management systems. Finally, our research involves development and investigation of new non-invasive technology for early identification of production diseases with special focus on liver status and claw and leg diseases and mastitis.
